The Elder Scrolls Online Announcement Trailer

Posted on: May 4th, 2012 by Michael DiMauro No Comments

“Salvation can not come from one hero alone”.

The Elder Scrolls Online Announcement trailer doesn’t tell us a whole lot. There is no gameplay to speak of. What we do get is the rationalization behind going from what has always been a single player game to a massively multiplayer game. Enemies are all around, and the only way to win through is to join with your fellow heroes.

Bethesda has revealed that an MMO set in The Elder Scrolls universe is in production. It will be available on both Mac and PC and the development is being helmed by industry veteran Matt Firor.

“We have been working hard to create an online world in which players will be able to experience the epic Elder Scrolls universe with their friends, something fans have long said they wanted,” said Matt Firor, game director of The Elder Scrolls Online. “It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years. The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise.”

We will learn more about The Elder Scrolls Online in the June edition of Game Informer, which ships to subscribers and newsstands later this month.

Serious Sam BFE Review

Posted on: April 30th, 2012 by Michael DiMauro No Comments

Get out your stone washed jeans and ask Guy Fieri if you can borrow his sunglasses–Serious Sam is back. Serious Sam BFE seems like it was cryogenically frozen in the early 90s and has just been thawed out. The Serious Engine 3.5 does give it a new coat of paint, but doesn’t do anything to help the aesthetics of the game.  Read on…

Review: Plantronics BackBeat GO Bluetooth Stereo Headphones

Posted on: April 27th, 2012 by John Parie No Comments

Light and unobtrusive are the hallmarks of Plantronics’ latest Bluetooth stereo headphones. The BackBeat GO’s, which weigh in at just under half an ounce, are a great wireless solution for people looking for a stereo Bluetooth headphone setup paired with an in-line microphone.

The headphones’ key feature is that they are merely two ear buds with a small wire attaching them. Within the two ear buds is enough power to keep them running for four hours of use and a micro USB cable for charging. The inconspicuous wire, neatly hides behind the user’s neck while in use, also contains an in-line microphone that has basic phone and music controls. Read on…

PAX East Hands On: Retro/Grade

Posted on: April 26th, 2012 by Tim Lanning No Comments

It is not often that someone recognizes my Herculean skills as soon as I press start in a video game, but Retro/Grade chose to honor me. As you start out you kill the final boss of a space invasion to save the earth. Credits roll as this mighty beast falls before you and a temporal anomaly in space and time opens. Before you can say “celebratory parade” you are forced to “replay” your victorious conquest in reverse. I am a spaceship artist so this challenge did not phase me.  Read on…
